Did you find what you wanted?

Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the blog hop over the weekend. Lucky me had some time to play with my stamps! I started with this week’s sketch from Stamping 411.

That nice big recatangle in the middle looked like a great place to put some Valentine owls. So I did! I wasn’t quite ready to leave the Candy Conversations stamp behind, so I used it as a little thought bubble between the owls.

Stamps: Candy Conversation
Ink: Rose Red
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Rose Red, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Brights Patterns Designer Paper Stack, Subtles Patterns Designer Paper Stack
Other: Owl Punch, Bird Punch, Small Heart Punch, Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, Old Olive Satin Ribbon
I find the smallest little punched out circle of the owls’ eyes too hard to use, so I just draw that on with my Stampin’ Write Markers. So much easier!

We gave out Tootsie Rolls for Halloween. Or tried to, at least. Not a lot of trick-or-treaters came by, leaving us with a lot of Tootsie Rolls. We donated some to Operation Gratitude at school, and I figured the rest could be used for crafts. As I was thinking about how to use them, I remembered these super cute Top Note Owl Bag Toppers that were all the rage about three years ago. I decided it was time to bring them back!

Paper: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Basic Black
Other: Top Note Bigz Die, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, 1/2″ Circle Punch, 5 Petal Flower Punch, Small Cello Bags
This little owl is so cute, I almost feel bad eating the Tootsie Rolls. Almost.

Stamping 411 has another great sketch this week. As soon as I saw those three circles, I knew EXACTLY what I wanted them to be!

I had recently been looking at Jill’s super cute card with three ghosts on it, and decided to adapt it to this sketch. Take a look below, can you tell what the ghosts are made out of? The owl punch!! It’s turned upside down, and their little feet are cut off. Don’t they make adorable little ghosts?

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
Paper: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Whisper White
Other: Owl Punch, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Basic Black 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon, Dazzling Details
It’s hard to see in the picture, if you click on it you can see it a little better, but I outlined each ghost with the new Dazzling Details glitter glue. It was a quick and easy way to give them just a little bit of Pop!

I love the the clean simplicity of this week’s Stamping 411 sketch challenge. Those three squares could be windows for so many things!

My downline Samantha kindly gave me some of her Woodland Walk Designer Series paper, and I thought that the wood grain pages would be perfect for this, with the owls peeking out! I matted my scallop square punches with the smaller scalloped square from the Scallap Square Duo Bigz Die — this is still available although it is not currently featured in a catalog.

Stamps: Punch Bunch
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Concord Crush, More Mustard
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper
Other: Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, Owl Punch, Scallop Square Punch, Scallop Square Duo Bigz Die, Big Shot
Love those owls! Only two and a half weeks left to earn them for free!

I got a chance to combine three challenges again today, and I’m pretty pleased with how the card came out! I used the colors from Curtain Call Color Challenge, the sketch from clean&simple, and the inspiration from Stampin’ Celebration.

Here’s the card I came up with. See that cute owl? He’s part of a brand new set that will be available for FREE during Sale-a-Bration, starting next week! He coordinates with the Owl punch!

Eve had the hardest time deciding which of the Decor Elements chalkboard pieces she wanted for her new room — the hippo or the owl? After much careful thought and deliberation, she went with the owl. We finally had time to put him up over the weekend. (This is the largest size.)

These go up just like regular Decor Elements, but are an actual chalkboard material that you can write on!

Eve just loves her new owl.

Our only disappointment is that the walls in our new house are EXTREMELY textured. Decor Elements are not recommended for textured walls, and we are a little concerned about how well this will actually stay up. We bought the speech bubble as well, but are waiting to put that up until we see what happens. If this doesn’t work, we’ll move on to plan B, which is to put the Decor Elements on some kind of canvas or frame, and hang that. In the meantime, it looks super cute!

I was showing my after school class some of the cute owl cards I found online and they really wanted to make one! I saw a couple online with this same layout, and thought it would be a fun one for the kids to make.

Stamps: Wood Grain, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Early Espresso
Paper: Marina Mist, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Other: Two-Step Owl Punch, Two-Step Bird Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch
To avoid the frustration of gluing the tiny dots of the eyes on, I just drew them in with my Stampin’ Write Marker. Much easier!
