Halloween

The winners of Stampin’ Up’s My Digital Studio contest have been announced, and their work is incredible! I hope you will find time to take a look. To enter the contest, we were asked to submit one scrapbook page and one card created  exclusively with My Digital Studio. The entries were due on October 15th, and I had Halloween on the brain! For the scrapbook page,  I dug back through the archives and found these ridiculously cute pictures of Eve when she was 6 months old. (You can see the card I submitted here.)

I made the patchwork behind the picture with squares of the digital version of the Cast A Spell Designer Series. The images inside the circles are from the Spooky Bingo Bits Stamp Brush Set. I “colored” them in by layering different punches filled with color behind the stamps.

Don’t forget to get your free downloads from MyDigitalStudio.net. You just need to complete a quick survey. They are available through the end of the day Monday, and work in My Digital Studio or any program that can use JPGs or PNGs.

Do you have My Digital Studio yet? Anyone who purchases it through me will receive an hour of one-on-one training for free! (In person if you are local, by phone if you are not.) Contact me for more information!

The first Saturday in November is Digital Scrapbook Day. Stampin’ Up has a big celebration planned for November 4-7, and to gear up for it, I will be posting only digital projects for the next 6 days. Today’s project is for ColourQ Challenge #109 — check out these colors:

Since I am on the design team, I had to have my page done over the weekend. Since I didn’t have this year’s pictures yet, I went all the way back to 2007. Isn’t Eve the cutest Minnie Mouse ever?

The pumpkins and the bats are from the Spooky Bingo Bits Digital Stamp Brush Set. It has a ton of super cute Halloween images!

The finalists are up for the My Digital Studio Contest. Since I am not one, I’ll be posting my entries over the next couple days. Please take a minute to vote for the winners. You have until the end of the day on Friday.

While Steve & Eve carved our Halloween pumpkins, I was busy roasting the  seeds. I sprinkled them with salt and garlic powder, and they came out super yummy! As I was making them, I thought to myself, “Hey! I bet these would fit in the 1″ x 8″ Cello Bags from Stampin’ Up!” And you know what? They do! So I made some cute little Halloween treats for Eve to bring to her teachers and a few other people at school today.

Stamps: Gift Givers
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Always Artichoke
Paper: Very Vanilla, Pumpkin Pie (on the back)
Other: Designer Label Punch

I hope you have a Happy Halloween! Great news! Stampin’ Up extended the special to get a FREE Big Shot when you become a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator! You now have until November 11th to sign up. Don’t miss this fabulous deal!

This past week we had “Boo Buddies” at work, where we each pick a name and leave that person little treats all week.  I love doing this! It is so much fun! The only bummer for me is that I can;t do anything hand-made, or the person will know that it is me. But Monday is our big reveal, so I can FINALLY craft something for my buddy!

I decided to make one of those super cute hexagon boxes made from two milk cartons. Have you seen them? Paula has a fabulous tutorial on her blog. I made mine to look somewhat like a pumpkin, but I didn’t put a Jack-o-lantern face on it, so it can continue to be used until Thanksgiving.

I filled the inside with chocolates, and covered them with stamped labels to make them more festive. I fit about a dozen in there.

Stamps: It’s a Wrap Holidays
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Lucky Limeade, Basic Black
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack, Labels
Other: Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon, Crop-a-Dile, Milk Carton Bigz Die, Big Shot

This was a really fun box to make. I hope she likes it!

I was looking for more ideas of what to put in Stampin’ Up’s fabulous 1″x8″ cello bags. I’ve seen lots of them look super cute with M&M type candies, but that also means someone has to touch all of those M&Ms! Since I wanted to have my after-school kids class make something cute for Halloween, I was looking for wrapped candies. A little more sanitary that way.  I was at a party store looking at Halloween costumes, and I saw that they sold Pixy Sticks individually. I bought a bunch of orange ones, and this is what we made at the after-school stamping class this week.

Stamps: Batty for You
Ink: Basic Black, Tangerine Tango
Paper: Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
Other: 1″x 8″ Cello Bags, Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch

I let the kids choose which stamps and which colors they wanted to use. In addition to the Basic Black and Tangerine Tango, I included Old Olive for the Frankenstein’s Monster stamp. They loved this project!

Ooh, what fun Halloween colors in the ColourQ challenge this week!

I pulled a super cute picture of Eve and her friend Simone last year for this challenge. I used the digital version of Spooky Bingo Bits. They are sized bigger than the actual stamp, so you can enlarge them on your page without losing and quality.

I “colored in” the witch’s hat by placing punches in Lucky Limeade and Pumpkin Pie behind the hat stamp.

Be sure and come back tomorrow to see the latest digital download’s from Stampin’ Up! There are helpful templates for creating holiday photo cards and more!

Stamping 411 has another great sketch this week. As soon as I saw those three circles, I knew EXACTLY what I wanted them to be!

I had recently been looking at Jill’s super cute card with three ghosts on it, and decided to adapt it to this sketch. Take a look below, can you tell what the ghosts are made out of? The owl punch!! It’s turned upside down, and their little feet are cut off. Don’t they make adorable little ghosts?

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
Paper: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Whisper White
Other: Owl Punch, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Basic Black 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon, Dazzling Details

It’s hard to see in the picture, if you click on it you can see it a little better, but I outlined each ghost with the new Dazzling Details glitter glue. It was a quick and easy way to give them just a little bit of Pop!

This week’s Pals Paper Arts Challenge has some great Halloween colors!

Aren’t they just perfect for Halloween? I thought I’d combine this with the Spider Web Embossing Folder for a fun and spooky look. I’m going to make this one with the kids in the after school class this week, too.

Stamps: Gift Givers
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry
Paper: Lucky Limeade, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Vellum
Other: Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Designer Label Punch, Neutrals Brads (black), Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon, Raven Lace Trim (retired)

You might remember the Raven Lace Trim from last year’s Holiday Mini Catalog. Though it is sadly sold out now, it showed up on the Clearance Rack last week with other holiday items. Check there every so often — you can get some GREAT deals!

Stampin’ Up has some spooktacular new downloads this week, continuing on with the great Halloween themed downloads from last week.  These downloads work with My Digital Studio and any other digital scrapbooking program that allows you to import PNG and JPG files.

There is a My Digital Studio tab to the top right hand corner of this blog. It is a handy reference to a variety of My Digital Studio resources, including a list of all of the downloads and a break down of the printing costs. There is also a Resources page on MyDigitalStudio.net that includes an MDS Catalog. It shows all of the MDS software artwork (contained in the boxed-version) and downloads from the October 2009 launch through July 31, 2011! The catalog gives a snapshot of the entire product line with artwork thumbnails followed by product details, which includes the colors of the designer papers! Because MDS is regularly coming out with new artwork, the catalog will be updated every month.

Hello and welcome to the Stampin’ Addicts’ Holiday Mini Blog Hop, where we will be featuring a variety of the new products in Stampin’ Up’s Holiday Mini Catalog! You may have arrived from Trina’s blog, where she shared the super cute Festive and Fun, or you may be starting here. The blogs connect in a circle, so either way you’ll get to see them all! I am excited to show you some of the great digital downloads that are available in the Holiday Mini Catalog. Each of these have actual paper versions as well.

The first download I want to show you is the Pick Your Poison Embellishments. There is also a coordinating Piece of Poison Stamp Brush Set, though I didn’t use it. This download comes with labels and borders. I used two of the border strips to create the background of this page, and a third one around the edges to frame it. There are both blank labels, and ones already filled in. I used one of the blank ones below the photo.

My next project features the digital version of the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper. You may have noticed that Trina used this in the blog hop banner and buttons as well. It is a beautiful paper set, with a soothing fall feel to it. For this project I created a Thanksgiving Menu that you can be proud to display on your holiday table. If you wanted to make this in a hybrid version, you could use the actual Pool Party ribbon instead of the digital version. Because you can choose which part of the Designer Series Paper shows through the punch, both Trina and I were able to fill our punch with the flower image! It was a quick and easy wow!

My final project uses the Digital Version of the Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper. This would be great to use for your Christmas Cards with the family photo! I love the quilt-like quality of the designs, as well as the wood ones, so I combined these into a patchwork scrapbook page.

Want to see all of the digital downloads? Come by after the Mini catalog goes live on September 1st and I’ll post them here for you.  Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed this look at three of the Digital Downloads. Now it is time to move on to Debra’s blog where she will be showing you the beautiful single stamp, Leaves of a Tree.
