Welcome to the latest Stampin’ Addicts’ Blog Hop, celebrating Stampin’ Up’s new Occasions Mini Catalog, which starts January 4, 2011. You may have just arrived from Sarah’s blog, where she showed you the super cute new Valentine’s Day set, XOXO, or you may be starting here. Either way, all of the stops link together in one big circle, so you won’t miss any of the great ideas and projects.

I am very excited to be featuring the new set, Take a Spin. It consists of four adorable spinner stamps. The actual spinner hands are sold separately as well, complete with brads and washers for a fabulous spin! Three of the stamps are circles, which work great with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, and the fourth is a square which fits nicely in the larger of the two squares on the Scallop Square Duo Die. For my first project, I chose bright, fun, primary colors for a great kids’ card. It would be wonderful to give your child after a fabulous report card or teacher conference.

Stamps: Take a Spin, Classic Stars Jumbo Wheel
Ink: Real Red, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Real Red, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Other: Game Spinner Hands, 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle #2 Bigz Die, Real Red 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon

For my next card, I stuck with the scallop circle, but otherwise took a drastic departure! As I read the words on the stamp — Wonderful, Kind, Generous, Thoughtful, Funny — I thought of my mom, and realized that this would make a fabulous Mother’s Day card! I added a punched flower in the middle, and used my Big Shot to make the whole card into a scalloped circle.

Stamps: Take a Spin
Ink: Rose Red
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Sweet & Sour Specialty Designer Series Paper
Other: Game Spinner Hands, 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Bigz Die, Circle Bigz Clear Die, Boho Blossoms Punch, Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon

For the third stamp, I went with a more whimsical look. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers on the stamp to add interest, along with this fabulous piece of gingham print paper from Pawsitively Prints II. It reminds me of a homey Italian restaurant, where you might go to celebrate any of these occasions.

Stamps: Take a Spin
Ink: Poppy Parade, Basic Black
Paper: Poppy Parade, Basic Black, Whisper White, Pawsitively Prints II Designer Series Paper
Other: Game Spinner Hands, 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, Circle Scissors, Poppy Parade Poly Ribbon

For my final card, I went back to a bright and fun kids card. I based the colors on the Celebrations paper, and thought the arrows were a fun echo to the arrow on the spinner. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers again.

Stamps: Take a Spin
Ink: Real Red, Pacific Point, Pear Pizzaz
Paper: Pacific Point, Pear Pizzaz, Whisper White, Celebrations Designer Series Paper
Other: Game Spinner Hands

I found the colors in this week’s ColourQ challenge very striking!

But when it came time to actually use them, that got a little tricky. I decided to follow Krystal’s lead, and make a masculine card with them. Since I had Crumb Cake (formerly known as Kraft) for Wood, and Basic Gray  for metal, I pulled out my Totally Tools stamp set. Here’s what I came up with:

Stamps: Totally Tool
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Crumb Cake, Basic Gray
Paper: Old Olive, Basic Black, Basic Gray, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Other: Neutrals Brads (Basic Gray), Square Lattice Textured Impressions Folder, Big Shot

Be sure and come back tomorrow for the Stampin’ Addicts Occasions Mini Blog Hop! Great stampers featuring great new products!

I was amazed to find two different challenges yesterday with the same theme of “Bring on the Bling”– Hand Stamped Sentiments and SUO Challenges — so how could I not do them? I was stamping with my downline Samantha yesterday (she’s taking over the after-school kids’ class for the upcoming semester),and we came across the very blinging (is that a word?) sheet of paper from the Candy Cane Christmas Designer Series Paper. I used that as my starting point, along with the brand-new Valentine Defined stamp set from the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog. I used a couple of Real Red Glimmer Brads, too!

Stamps: Valentine Defined
Ink: Real Red, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Real Red, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Candy Cane Designer Series Paper
Other: Real Red 5/8″ Satin Ribbon, Brights Glimmer Brads, Modern Label Punch, Punch Windows Movers & Shapers Die

I love this new Valentine set! You’ll be seeing plenty more of it!

I finally got to see the desk calendar in real life, when we went to my parents’ house last week. This is a new format that Stamin’ Up recentely added to My Digital Studio, a 5 ½” x 6 ½” easel desk calendar. And it is just as cute in real life as I had hoped it would be! Here is a picture of it from the front. There is a spiral binding at the top.

From the side you can see how it stands up.

The inside part folds, for easy storage or transport.

When you preview it in My Digital Studio, it looks like the a regular wall calendar, but be assured that every page prints with the spiral binding at the top. (This is the picture half of September.)

This doesn’t have to be a calendar at all! Choose a blank design, without the months, and you have a cute little stand-up scrapbook!

My mom had asked me to make her some more thank you notes while we were visiting her last week, but I didn’t have the right supplies with me. When I saw this week’s Curtain Call Color Challenge, I knew it would be a great start.

My mom loves doves, and while Stampin’ Up’s two-step Bird Punch probably isn’t a dove, it is close enough for my purposes. I made this card without any ink or stamps! Just punches and my Big Shot. It came together pretty quickly, and since I know my mom will mail it, I kept it lump free. The embossing provides plenty of texture, without annoying the post office.

Paper: Pear Pizzaz, Early Espresso, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Subtles Designer Series Paper Prints Stack (Baja Breeze)
Other: Two-Step Bird Punch, Bigz Scallop Square Duo Die, Finial Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Big Shot

Let me know what you think, Mom!

Now that Christmas is over, I am all ready to move on to making Valentines! But Eve said that it is too early to start making Valentines, so I decided to make a New Year’s card with this week’s Stamping411 sketch.

I used Night of Navy and Silver as my main colors, because I don’t have any Black satin ribbon. I think I need to fix that soon! I used my VersaMarker on the edge of the white circle and embossed it with silver. I need to work on that technique a little more, it came out a bit splotcher than I would like. But it still adds the shimmer that I wanted.

Stamps: Cheers to You, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Night of Navy, So Saffron, VersaMarker
Paper: Night of Navy, Brushed Silver, Whisper White
Other: 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, Night of Navy 5/8″ Satin Ribbon, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Basic Rhinestones, Silver Embossing Powder
, Big Shot

This card is a 4 1/4″ square, so it can still fit in a regular envelope. I hope the New Year brings you all that you desire!

I have one more page of the desk calendar to share with you today. My Mom’s birthday is in May, and her favorite color is yellow, so I wanted to be sure to create a page that suited her. The background is Daffodil Delight. Doesn’t it look great with the Marina Mist ribbon? I wouldn’t have thought of this color combo, but I was trying to match the outfits with the colors.

How sweet are Eve & Leo together? Happy half birthday to Leo — he is six months old today!

One of the teachers at school is expecting her second baby, a little girl. After her baby shower, she asked if I could make her some thank you notes. She wanted something quick and easy, and I wanted to make sure they weren’t lumpy so they wouldn’t cost extra for her to mail. Here is what I came up with. I used my Stampin’ Write markers to color in some of the designs on the onesies.

Stamps: Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel, Kind Thanks
Ink: Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Certainly Celery
Paper: Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Other: Eyelet Border Punch

I was really pleased with how cute and easy these were! It would be easy to make a boy version of this card as well, just by changing the colors — maybe Bashful Blue and Pacific Point? Or even a gender neutral version — how about Wild Wasabi and So Saffron?

This is my favorite page of the desk calendar that I made my dad. It is for November, and contains pictures of Eve & Leo from this past Thanksgiving. Both the paper and the saying are from the Autumn Spice Digital Kit.

I can’t wait to see how big Leo will be at the next Thanksgiving! And Eve too…

I finally got to see the actual desk calendar in person, and I have to say that it exceeded my expectations! It came out great! I’ll post some pictures of it soon.

According to the Color Coach, Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant are a “dynamic duo” so I decided to use them together on this monogram card set for another of Eve’s teachers. I was pretty excited to have been able to come up with three completely different purple monogram cards.

Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Broadsheet Alphabet
Ink: Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Pear Pizzaz
Paper: Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White
Other: Top Note Bigz Die, Pear Pizzaz Poly Ribbon, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Big Shot

I’m so happy that all of the teachers seemed to really like their card sets! I hope your handmade gifts are equally well received!
