I was excited to have a chance to do the Stampin’ Addicts Color Challenge today. It is a stunning group of colors that I never would have thought to put together — Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Brushed Gold, and Black. As I was trying to decide what to do with the gold in particular, I remembered that my friend Paula had heat embossed some butterflies (from Great Friend) in both gold and silver and they looked stunning. So I thought that I would try that too! I also broke out the new Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. This has a beautiful embossed images in the lower right hand corner. I decided that I wanted a little more embossing, so I flipped it around and ran it through again. It wasn’t quite the same impression the second time. I think I need to play with this idea a little more.

Eve has been doing a lot of stamping with me this summer. It’s a great way to spend time together, especially with all of the rain we have been having. I am happy to share three of her latest creations with you. (Eve is my 6-year-old daughter, for those of you that may not know, who has been stamping with me since she was two.)

This first card is of Eve and me together, with our dog Biscuit.

This second card is Eve’s presentation of all of the new In Colors. She wanted to include them all on one card to make them easier to show people.

Eve just got her ears pierced, and this final card is a representation of her starter earrings. She picked the Crystal Rainbow Daisy, which you can see at the bottom of this list. (She got it done at Claire’s. They were great!)

Pretty accurate, huh? I highly recommend stamping with your children! It’s a great way to spend time together!

My best friend from high school just had a baby, a second little boy. I wanted to make her something to celebrate his arrival, so I thought it would be a perfect time to try the Top Note Wallet. There is a great video tutorial for this on Stampin’ Addicts. Here is what the outside looks like:

The inside uses two 3″ x 3″ envelopes to hold pictures. There is a spot for each of the boys.

Of course, I also had to make a matching card. I used Lauren Meader’s Baby Onesie Card design.

Congratulations to Nancy, Greg, & Finn on the arrival of Silas! Miss you!

When I saw this week’s Mojo Monday sketch, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with that big circle — use my scallop circle die to make it into a big flower!

Mojo97SketchI really like the summery bright yellow of the new Crushed Curry, so I used again for this week’s Mojo Monday, even though I used the same paper last week. This time I paired it with Chocolate Chip, which makes the color “pop” more than it did with the Soft Suede. To make the flower, I die cut the bigger scallop from the Scallop Circle #2 Bigz Die. Then I glued on  a 1 3/4″ Chocolate Chip circle. I cut in between each of the scallops, not quite to the circle. Then I fluffed up the “petals” with my fingers to make it look like a flower.  I’m really pleased with how it came out!

Stampin’ Up just announced their final Deal of the Week for July. Whoo-hoo! Another punch on sale! I love this punch! This a fantastic punch! I used it last Valentine’s Day over and over. And for only $10.99, how can you go wrong?

heartYou can take a look at a few of the projects I used it on. Also, it coordinates perfectly with the three hearted stamp in the Love You Much stamp set. This deal is good through July 31st. Shop now or contact me to place your order today.

We’ve been having a great time this summer, hanging out at the lake, fishing, roasting marshmallows, and eating S’mores. When I saw this sketch on the Stamping 411 challenge, I knew just what stamp set I was going to pull out!

I grabbed my Under the Stars set, with its matching Skeeter wheel, and went to work to create a card that reflect both the good and bad parts of the summer. (S’mores = good, mosquitos = bad) Here’s a helpful fishing tip for you. Fish like marshmallows too! We caught more fish with strawberry marshmallows than any other bait! Go figure!

Paper: Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper

Be sure and stop back tomorrow to see what the next Stampin’ Up Deal of the Week is!

I had such a great day today, hanging out at the lake with good friends, that I just have to post a fabulous summer card. How yummy does this drink look? This was a really fun card to make and to send. It can be used for birthdays or many different occasions, just by changing the sentiment at the top.

Thanks to Michele Force for the original design.

Another fun technique we did with reinkers at my last class was the shaving cream technique. This is a little bit messy, but has a great result! To do this technique:

  • Fill an embossing tray or paper plate with shaving cream (foamy, not gel)
  • Smooth it flat with a plastic knife
  • Place several drops of reinker in your chosen color on the shaving cream
  • Swirl the reinker through the shaving cream with the tip of a knife or fork
  • When you are satisfied with the look, lay a piece of glossy card stock on it, glossy side down
  • Press the glossy card stock down, and leave for a minute
  • Remove and wipe off  the shaving cream
  • Enjoy your beautiful creation!

Here is the card we made at the reinker technique class. Want to learn how to do this and other great techniques? Contact me to schedule your class today!

Eve had fun playing with the shaving cream too. She made the same size piece as me, but turned it into something entirely different. That’s the beauty of stamping! You can always put your on personal touch on things! (Eve’s 6, by the way)

Wow, I am really loving these new In Colors! They work so well in so many combinations. I made this card for Friday’s Color Combo Challenge over on Stampin’ Addicts. The colors were Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, and Crushed Curry. To make the base of this card, I used the new Clear Square Scallop Bigz Die. I love this die! I folded a regular card base, then carefully placed it so the fold was inside the row of scallops. Fast and easy and super cute!

It has been a crazy day for posting on my blog, but how could I pass up this super cute Mojo Monday sketch? A square card with a playful circle in the middle? I love it!

Mojo96SketchI thought it was a great time to break into my new Crushed Curry Designer Series Prints Pack, which looks fabulous with the super cute bees from Just Buzzin’ By. I made my card a 4 1/4″ by 4 1/4″ square. That way it still fits in a regular envelope, and you don’t have to pay extra postage for a square envelope! I really like the Crushed Curry and Soft Suede together. I can see myself using them a lot, along with Dusty Durango, in the fall.
