Today was just a Sock Monkey kind of day! Poor little guy hadn’t seen ink in so long, so I was glad that I could find a way to work him in to this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

Mojo87SketchI used Summer Sun on the bananas, and tied it together with the Summer Sun in the Good Morning Sunshine Designer Series Paper (still on sale! Buy 3 get 1 free!) I think maybe I should have made the circle a little bigger, but I’m happy with how it came out.

What a bright cheery card! This paper just brightens everything up!

What a great way to start the day, with one of Kristina Werner’s color inspirations! I am so glad that I picked up the multi pack of neutrals card stock, which has Sahara Sand in it. Her rules now state that you must use all of the colors and only those colors. I’m thinking it might be time to get a Sahara Sand ink pad as well. Here are today’s colors:

I really like the Baja Breeze, So Saffron and Sahara Sand together. It is such a soft look. I thought about doing a baby card with it, but wanted Sahara Sand ink, which I don’t have. Here is what I did come up with, using the More Mustard just for an accent.

Stampin’ Addicts Color Challenge 14 this week was a tough one. I guess that’s why they call it a challenge! The colors are Pink Pirouette, Tangerine Tango, and Riding Hood Red. A tough combo, any way you slice it! I thought about this wonderful card by Jenn D. and switched the colors around to make it work for this challenge. Thanks Jenn!

I joined Stampin’ Up a little over two years ago. It was one of the best decisions that I ever made. It has changed my life in so many ways, and made me so happy. I thought I’d share with you some of the reasons why.

I love being a Stampin’ Up demonstrator because:

  • I get to purchase all of Stampin’ Up’s fabulous products at 20% off (and sometimes more!)
  • I can earn the money I need to support my stamping habit, and not take money out of the family budget.
  • I have a really fun way to earn more money for both extras and necessities.
  • I have numerous opportunities to earn free stamps from Stampin’ Up.
  • I get to see new products first, and have a chance to buy them earlier than the general public. Sometimes they are only available to demonstrators!
  • I have made amazing friends through Stampin’ Up — both other demonstrators and people I’ve met through workshops and classes. It was a huge support system for me when moving across the country!
  • I have the “me” time that everyone needs so desperately.
  • It’s my business, and I can work it as much or as little as I want.

scrapbookingIf any of these reasons appeal to you, I have to tell you that now is a fabulous time to sign up! For only $75 you can become a demonstrator! You get over $80 worth of product for that, not including all of the business supplies! You can sign up online, right through my website, just click Join Now at the top. You’ll need my password, which is SUwithYapha. If you have any questions about becoming a demonstrator, or anything else, feel free to get in touch.

To learn more about Stampin’ Up and the demonstrator opportunity, watch the Introduction to Stampin’ Up video.

I was so excited when I saw this stamp set in the mini catalog! My in-laws are big golfers and I knew I just had to have this adorable golfer to make cards for them! This style of card is called a gate-fold, because, well, it opens up in the middle like a gate! This is one of the “fun folds” we’re going to be making at my fun folds class next Thursday in Ashby. Let me know if you are in the area, I’d love for you to come!

I love this new set from the Occasions Mini catalog! Just Beachy is just adorable! I love the flip flops, and the expressions on the faces of the fish are hilarious! When I saw Friday’s color challenge from Stampin’ Addicts, I knew that this was the set to use! The colors in the challenge are Riding Hood Red, Pacific Point, Summer Sun, and Chocolate Chip. I had to add a little Creamy Caramel for the sand. I really try to follow most color challenges exactly, but this one I just needed a sand color!

I stamped the sun and the bucket onto colored card stock and cut them out. The flip flops were stamped onto Whisper White card stock and cut out. I love my Paper Snips! It makes the cutting so easy! Eve gave this to her kindergarten teacher for her birthday today. Happy Birthday, Mrs. Sauer!

Now that Mother’s Day is over, I’m switching modes and gearing up for Father’s Day with some masculine cards. Today’s Mojo Monday sketch lends it self perfectly to this.

Mojo86Sketch

I left the scalloped edge off the bottom to make it a little more masculine. I also thought about putting glitter on the beer foam, but wasn’t sure if that would take away from the manliness of the card, so I left it off. This would be great for a birthday or Father’s Day.

Thank you so much to all of you went on the Parade of Papers blog hop this past weekend! I know I had a fabulous time looking at all of the amazing projects and ideas, I hope you did too!

As promised, I have tutorials for two of my projects to share with you. The first one is for the mini fold out scrapbook.

I found this wonderful tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers, in their resources section. I made a couple of modifications, though. The only coasters that I had were 3.5″ so I made my first piece of card stock and designer series paper were 9″ by 3.5″ instead of 4″ x 10″. I followed the rest of the instructions that they had.

The second project I promised a tutorial for is this super cute stationary bag.

I found this tutorial on Kimberley Morris’s blog. I made a few modifications to this as well, since I was using the textured cardstock to make it, not one 8.5″ x 11″. My front and back pieces were still 8.5″ x 4.5″ but the two side pieces I changed to 2.5′” x 4.5″ and scored them at 0.5″ from each of the three sides. I just wanted a little more room to work with. The piece of designer series paper on the front measures 6.75″ x 3.75″. I love these little totes and will definately be making packs of cards in them for all of Eve’s end of the year teacher gifts!

Come back and visit again soon! I make it a point to update my blog just about every day. You can subscribe by clicking on the FeedBlitz button on the right, underneath the picture of the Big Shot.

I am excited to be featuring the beautiful Bella Rose Designer Series Paper. It coordinates with Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, and Chocolate Chip. Just like all of the Designer Series Papers, it is included in Stampin’ Up’s May special of buy 3 get 1 free!

This adorable matchbox is the perfect size to hold four Hershey nuggets. The matchbox cover is Bella Rose paper punched with the scallop oval punch. A window sheet lines the inside of the hole, for a sneak-peak of the yummy treat inside! Each nugget is wrapped in a 1″ x 3″ strip of the Bella Rose paper.

Since May is National Scrapbooking Month, I used the Bella Rose paper and some of Stampin’ Up’s fabulous textured card stock (also included in the sale) to make this adorable mini scrapbook! Check back on Monday, and I will post the link to the tutorial. This first picture shows the scrapbook closed.

cimg7836

When you open it up, there are two fold-out sections that are each tied shut.

cimg7837

Here is a picture of the two sides opened up. It is ready to hold 8 or more pictures, then folds up neatly once again! By using the Bella Rose paper, I know that all of the different patterns will coordinate beautifully together. Stampin’ Up takes the guesswork out of mixing patterns and colors by including 12 different patterns in each of their packs of Designer Series Paper! It’s like Geranimals for grown-ups!

I was so excited to see that Kristina Werner had posted Color Inspiration #51, but couldn’t believe I had to wait over twelve hours to have time to play! Great colors this week…

The Rose Red and More Mustard made me think about the Flower Power Simply Sent Kit that I hadn’t put together yet, and sure enough, there were stripes of designer series paper in both of those colors! I added a strip of Chocolate Chip polka dot paper from the Bella Rose, and I love how these colors look together! (If you want to see more Bella Rose, I am featuring that on my stop on the Parade of Papers Blog Hop May 8, 9, & 10! Come see every one of Stampin’ Up’s Designer Series paper as you tour 24 different blogs! Don’t forget, during May you can buy 3 packs of Designer Series Paper and get the 4th one FREE!)
