You would think that with a three day weekend (whoo-hoo for Patriot’s Day here in Massachusetts!), I would be able to find some time to stamp. But no, we were actually running around doing things all weekend. Now that the weather is nice, it is wonderful to spend more time outdoors. But I couldn’t let Monday pass without making a card for the Mojo Monday sketch. Besides, I was starting to go through withdrawal! Here is this week’s sketch:

mojo83sketchSince the sketch showed a square card, I made mine square as well. It is a 4 1/2″ by 4 1/2″ square card, so that it will still fit in a regular envelope. I used a stamp set that hasn’t seen ink in a while, Simply Said. I used my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig to line up all of the hearts perfectly, but you certainly don’t need to if you want a more whimsical look.

I had such a great time making the boxes with friends last night! I should have taken pictures of them, because everybody put their own personal touches on theirs, and no two were exactly alike!

Here is a card that is done in the same color and the same paper. I just love this Good Morning Sunshine paper! It s so bright, and, well, sunshiney! I borrowed the layout of this card from Cathy.

Since there are no in-color markers, I used the Kiwi Kiss ink pad on the leaves first, and then the Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write Marker on the branch. Even the parts of the branch that had some Kiwi Kiss on them look fully Chocolate Chip.

I am so excited for tonight! We are going to be making the coolest thing! It is a scrapbook that folds up into a box. It is also known as an explosion box. And it is a Mother’s Day present for my mom. (So, Mom, if you are reading this, DON’T LOOK!) I saw this on the brilliant and creative Amy Bell’s blog. She was kind enough to include directions as well, so I won’t repeat them here. But I do have them typed up into a Word document, so if you would like me to email them to you, just let me know.

Here is the outside of the box:

box1

This is the box opened up.  Each of the flaps in the center lift up, and you can add photos or other embellishments.

box2

Here is the finished box, open. I printed all of my pictures in sepia, so they would better match the chocolate chip in the box. (Thanks for the great idea, Sandi!) I added a few embellishments, but not too many because I didn’t want to overshadow the pictures.

box3I included 12 pictures, just on the front of each flap. You could easily put in 24 by using both sides.

Paper: 12×12 Chocolate Chip, Pacific Point, Old Olive, Good Morning Sunshine Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Big Shot Scallop Circle #2, 5-Petal Flower Punch, Mini Glue Dots, Corduroy Buttons (Summer Sun), Button Latte, Flower Assortment Brads

It is a great box, and makes a fabulous gift for any occasion!

You may have noticed the window sheets in the new Occasions Mini Catalog. There are both blank ones and some pre-printed ones. If you have been wondering how to use them, Stampin’ Up has put together a short video of project ideas and helpful tips.

I really like the idea of using rub ons on them. Have fun with your window sheets!

When I announced my new Etsy shop, my friend Laura asked if I could do custom orders. Sure, I replied, I’m always up for a challenge! Her mother loves owls, and she wanted to know if I could make a Mother’s Day card with owls on it. Of course, I answered right away, knowing full well I had no owl stamps, no super cute owl chipboard shapes (from the On Board So Tweet set), or even any owl rub-ons (from the Bright Delights pack). (We had this entire conversation on Twitter, by the way. You can follow me here.) So I started thinking… owls… owls… And I came up with two cards!

For the first card I used the owl print paper in the Good Morning Sunshine Pack of Designer Series Paper. It was the one owl item I actually did have!

Ink: Pacific Point
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Pacific Point, Whisper White, Good Morning Sunshine DSP
Accessories: Pink Pirouette Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Slot Punch, Corner Rounder, Top Note Bigz Die

For the second card I used the amazing owl made of punches that I found on Dawn Griffith’s blog. She even has video tutorial on how to make it! It turned out so cute!

Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Close to Cocoa
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Basic Black
Accessories: Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon,  1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Large Oval Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Round Tab Punch, 3/4″ Circle Punch, 1/2″ Circle Punch, Crop-a-Dile, Sponge Daubers, White Gel Pen

Laura loved them both. So yes, I take custom orders, no matter how tricky they may be!

I couldn’t believe it when I saw the Mojo Monday sketch this morning! I had this idea in my head for two days about a card with a square in the middle and the big flower from One of a Kind. I was going to do it for yesterday’s Color Inspiration, but I couldn’t get it to work with the colors. And then, when I woke up this morning, there it was! The perfect sketch for the idea that was in my head!

I heat embossed the black outline of the main flower, and then used the Watercolor Wonder Crayons to color it in. The raised edge of the embossing made it easier to stay in the lines.

Did you know that you can buy this card and many others in my new Etsy shop? It’s true! Visit me soon!

Wow! I love the colors that Kristina Werner picked for this week’s color inspiration! So bright and cheerful! And I have been on a Rose Red kick lately, too.

I did a few things with this card that I haven’t done in a while. First, I embossed the outlines of the shoes with black on each of the scalloped squares. Then I filled in the embossed part with Crystal Effects so the shoes are shiny and raised when you see them in person. When I finished the card I realized that I hadn’t included any white, so I added the white “stitching” around each of the squares. Eve suggested that I do it around the black layer as well. I’m really happy with how it came out!

Now that Eve is in kindergarten, and able to read and write (a little) on her own, I thought it would be a good year for her to start writing her own thank you notes. But to make it easier I used the Simple Birthday Thanks stamp. It is an adorable cupcake, with a few blanks to fill in. Eve wanted it in Tinker Bell colors to match the party theme. I think they came out super cute, and she was able to fill them out in no time!

They are single sheet note cards that don’t open.

I love the stamp set Thoughts & Prayers. In addition to the beautiful tree, it also has a flowering branch that is just lovely. And it has some really nice sentiments in it as well. If the colors and basic layout looks the same, it is because I used some of the leftover cardstock from my last workshop! I just turned it on its side. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the flowers and leaves in different colors.
