As promised, here is the card that started out for yesterday’s Mojo Monday sketch, but ended up competely different! I have to say, I really like this dog set much better than the last two that Stampin’ Up has come out with. The yellow lab is our dog Biscuit, so I colored the eyes and nose black like his. I also tried something new (for me, anyway) and made a photo corners out of the ribbon. I thought it looked pretty good! Here’s the card:

Yes, that did say “Tangoed” up in Blue. I went and had a fun couple hours yesterday with my friend Beth who is also a Stampin’ Up demonstrator. She had the most amazing swap cards that were done in Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point, and Chocolate Chip. I love, love, love Tangerine Tango and Pacific Point together! I wasn’t planning on using them for today’s Mojo Monday sketch. Nope. I was thinking about the sketch on the 100 mile drive home from my parents. I was going to use So Saffron, Riding Hood Red, and Basic Black with the new dog set, Man’s Best Friend. Well, let’s just say that things got a little frustating and that card did not end up fitting the sketch. It did come out cute, though. I’ll post it tomorrow.

Here’s today’s sketch:

Ink: Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Basic Black
Paper: Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
Accessories: Pacific Point Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Tangerine Tango Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Texturz Plates

Boy do I love those colors together! It’s hard to see, but I used the small polka dot Texturz plate on the big Tangerine Tango piece. Thanks for looking!

Here is one last valentine, for this year at least. This is another one that Eve made. We are down at my parents’ house this weekend, so Eve gave this one to her Sabba & Savta. She stamped the largest heart in Pretty in Pink randomly on the base to create the background. She stamped the tic-tac-toe board in Riding Hood Red, then colored in parts with the Pretty in Pink Stampin’ Write Marker.

Thanks for looking! Hope you had a good Valentine’s Day!

February 13th is my Sister-in-Law’s birthday, so I’m giving her a shout out, and a look at the card I sent her. It uses last week’s color challenge from Splitcoast Stampers. The colors were Creamy Caramel, Old Olive, and Cameo Coral. I love the Old Olive and Cameo Coral together, but I’m not a huge fan of the Creamy Caramel with it, so I only used it on the cupcake.

Hope you have a great day Ellie!

I am almost over the whole Valentine’s Day card thing, but Kristina Werner’s colors for today just screamed “Valentine,” so I had to make one more. The colors are:

I decided to go for a fairly clean and simple look. Hope you like it!

The head of the Lower School LOVES pigs. She has pigs everywhere in her office. So after making these Valentine Owls with the second graders on Tuesday (which went really well, by the way), I decided to attempt a Valentine pig topper. I used up all of the small cello bags with the second graders, so for this one I used a medium cello bag and folded the Top Note die cut the long way. The colors are a little off in this picture, because I took it with my phone, but I think it came out super cute!

I am loving this new frog set! It is so cute! And my favorite of all the sayings is “Time’s fun when you’re having flies!” I used it to make a card from last week’s SplitCoast Stampers Color Challenge. The colors were Baja Breeze, Pacific Point, and Garden Green. It’s hard to see, but I used one of the new Texturz plates on the Baja Breeze background. I also used the new Circle Scissors Plus to make the two round circles. Love it! So easy to use!

You’ll be seeing plenty more of these frogs as we get closer to Passover!

One of the new sets I got is That’s Funny. I think the “Complimentary Peanuts” stamp in it is absolutely hilarious! I also got it with my co-librarian Sean in mind. As soon as he saw the stamp about scaring normal people away, he wanted some cards with it. So this first card with the set is for Sean. I used the sketch from today’s Mojo Monday, and the colors from the Retro Fresh style watch on pages 10 & 11 of the Spring/Summer 2009 Idea Book & Catalog.

Hope he likes it!

When Eve saw that I was stamping, she of course wanted to jump in as well. I was playing along with the Mojo Monday sketch, so she came up with her own version. She made a Valentine for her dad. She made the truck blue, like his, and colored his sweatshirt green, like the Applewild School sweatshirt he loves. I did the cutting for her, she came up with the colors and all the rest herself.

I really think doing these sketch challenges are great for both creativity and math skills!

Valentine’s Day is in less than a week, so if you are getting sick of seeing Valentine’s hang in there! We’re almost done! I saw this fabulous idea of creating an envelope with hearts bursting out of it on cards by Jenn D and Lyssa. The scalloped envelope is made with a Stampin’ Up exclusive Bigz Die. The hearts are stamped with the Sale-a-Bration set Polka Dot Punches, an then punched out with the matching Full Heart Punch. I’m not sure if you can tell, but the background is dry embossed with the new Stampin’ Up Texturz plates. I love these! They are fantastic! You’ll be seeing a lot more of these on upcoming cards!
